What the scanner checks, what the score means, and how the paid plans work.
- What does the free scan actually check?
It runs eight weighted checks on the URL you give it: AI crawler access in robots.txt, whether an llms.txt exists, valid JSON-LD structured data, a discoverable and linked sitemap, your meta description, title tag, Open Graph tags, and heading structure. You get the overall score and how many checks passed, free and without an account — see what's in a report or run a scan now.
- How is the 0–100 score calculated?
Each check carries a weight based on how much it affects whether an AI agent can find, read and cite your page. Passing a check adds its full weight; failing adds nothing. The weights add up to 100, so the score is simply the sum of everything you pass. The full breakdown is in how scoring works.
- Is a low score a problem?
Most sites fail most of these checks — that is normal, not a disaster. What matters is which ones you fail. A missing llms.txt or blocked AI crawler has far more impact than a slightly long meta description, and the report orders fixes accordingly. Start with writing an llms.txt.
- Do I need an account to scan?
No. The free scan is anonymous and needs no card and no sign-up. Accounts only come into play when you unlock a full report, run bulk scans or subscribe to ongoing monitoring — see creating an account.
- What do I get in the full report?
Every check itemised with a plain-language explanation of why it matters, a ready-to-paste llms.txt drafted from your own content, structured-data snippets you can drop straight into your page, and a PDF export. The full breakdown of free versus paid sections is on the reports page.
- How often is a monitored site re-scanned?
Monitored sites are re-scanned monthly, with a score-history chart in your dashboard and an email whenever the score moves. You can also trigger a re-scan yourself at any time. Monitoring is included on paid plans — see pricing.
- Why is there a limit on free scans?
Every scan makes live requests to the site being checked, so free scans are capped at five per hour per visitor to keep things fair and avoid hammering anyone's server. Paid plans and bulk scanning lift that limit. If a scan is refused, this troubleshooting doc covers the causes.
- Can I scan a site I don't own?
Yes. The scanner only reads publicly available files and page markup — the same things any search engine or AI crawler sees. It never logs in, submits forms or changes anything.
- Can I connect Visium AI to ChatGPT or Claude?
